Major in Horticultural Science
The coursework for the
undergraduate major is flexible. Students take introductory courses
in biology, chemistry, math, and Horticultural Science, then specialize their
degree by selecting from upper-level courses in Horticultural
Science and its related disciplines. These elected courses are meant as a capstone to the students' core knowledge and help to prepare them for a career in the subfield of their choice.
The elected courses are referred to as a Program of Study. A program of study consists of at least 24 credits, eight of which must have a HORT designator at the 3XXX level or above. The Department has developed six programs of study (at right) for students to choose from. Students whose interests or career goals differ from what these programs offer may develop their own program of study
in consultation with their advisor.
See a list of the required (core) courses. See a list of all courses offered by the Department.
