Department of Horticultural Science
Professor Olin, who formerly chaired the landscape architecture program, is Director Emeritus of the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. He has taught upper-level design courses, planting design, gardening and public garden management.
Professor Olin has worked as a landscape architect and was national president of the Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture. He is a Fellow in the American Society of Landscape Architects and a former member and vice president of the Landscape Architecture Foundation.
Olin lectures nationally on fundraising, garden management and public garden design. He has consulted on garden management for Washington Park Arboretum; Strybing Arboretum; North Carolina Arboretum; Reiman Gardens, Iowa State University; and University of California, Santa Cruz, Botanic Garden. In 2008 he was awarded the American Public Garden Association's Award of Merit (its second-highest award), the Minnesota Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects Public Service Award, and was inducted into the Minnesota Landscape and Nursery Association's Hall of Fame. He is also a member of the Landscape Architecture graduate faculty.
