A two-time graduate of the University of Minnesota, Julie holds a Master’s degree in visual communication from the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, and worked 12 years in business marketing and management in the imaging industry. Shifting career gears, she later graduated from the University’s Department of Horticultural Science with a Master of Agriculture degree in 2002 and taught landscape design and computer-aided design. In 2007, Julie was appointed to position as assistant extension professor. She directed the U of M Extension Master Gardener Program from 2007 - 2013. As an extension educator in horticulture, Julie teaches workshops and presents on horticulture topics with a special focus on plant selection and sustainable landscape design. Julie is a native of Rochester, MN, and now lives with her husband, Karl in Mound, MN. Julie experiments in her own backyard with small space landscape design and just can’t say no to a new plant.
